I can get you whatever part# you need, but for that to happen, I need the MY and/or the shape of the mirror.

If you've the same type of mirrors as mashoo810, you need 1M2 857 508 A 01C.
This is according to ETKA:
rear view mirror housing for vehicles with rear view mirror electrically operated, folding and heated, satin black for right side, rhd cars.

I would assume you need the cover too? Or were you lucky?

Thanks for you help guys.
Sorry to be dumb but what is ETKA?
I do need the cover too...no luck with this LC. (Just needed a new wiring loom as well, £394!!)
A friend of mine in the trade has said parts cost are £44 - Glass, £92 - main unit, and £8 for the cover, does this sound about right?

ETKA is a computer program made by LexCom.
Electronic parts catalogue for VAG cars.

Elektonischer Teile KAtalog

And remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question, only dumb answers (and Google).

Same thing happened me...think those prices are without VAT tho if your getting from a dealer. Although my leon has the standard wing mirrors i paid round 50ish or the glass and I think near 18ish for the cover

some may say lala land....
old thread new question.

The cable that comes out of the wing mirror, is this the same whether they be electric foldy or not?
if not, what is correct cable part number please anybody?
also, the door switch, is this specific to allow this, or does it just need motor or something.

sorry if old questions, but looking after a search anot not quite finding what i'm after.
On ebay there is a new switch with foldy wing mirror bit and looking at bidding on it.

no i don't
that's what i'm trying to clarify.
Are the wing mirrors different then for electric foldy to manual foldy?

[edit]
This ends soon, should i get the switch?
Thoughts appreciated.

As far as i am aware the electric folding mirrors are not the same as manual ones as the motors are not there, so the switch would be useless unless you were going to get the electric folding ones the wiring would be fairly strait forward depending on knowledge/capability.

cheers phillc
i was wondering these bits myself, but needed clarification, or other peoples experiences on this.
i feel the wiring will be same, just either no motors in them or no switch.
the switch i'm happy to get now and see what happens then, and look at new mirrors later on.

knowledge is non-existent, but it's worth a laugh....

The switches are there mate:

No prices though, but you can use the part number to get a price.

The mirrors are different internally by the way, I changed one on a new shape A3 last week. The switch also has an extra setting compared to standard, not sure if there are any extra wires though. You coudl do with trying to find some wiring diagrams really.

Either way, it wont be difficult to swap manuals to electrics.
