eliminate the problems mate check the relay and give it a good clean. how's your battery? check the earth from the wiper motor and if all that is good might be crunch time and your wiper motor might be on the way out. If both wiper arms are moving smoothly without crunching I would'nt say that theres a problem with your wiper linkage.

My money is on the wiper linkage. Water gets into the bushings and siezes them up, a strip down, clean out the bushings/spindles and refit with a little grease should do the trick.

Just helped my mate out with exactly the same problem on his A4. The linkage gets corroded up. We sorted it by taking the wipers off and the plastic skuttle. Then sprayed the linkage where the wipers connect and the motor with WD40. Left 10 minutes and repeated the process 4 or 5 times. Started working a treat.

Recon if we did it again that it could be done with leaving the wipers and skuttle on.

My wipers have just decided to join the club of moving very slowly so when i get the chance i'll check out the wiper linkage and lube it up and then keep it lubed on a regular basis. Car is nearly 9 years old.
Might even slash out on some new linkage if that's a better fix.
