Can anyone recommend a window tinting firm in the Stockport / Manchester area. Attended the trackday at Prodrive on Friday, great day, and there were quite a few FR's with aftermarket tints which looked realy cool but unfortunately everyone I managed to speak too lived mile from me. Just want the rear windows done as to me this looked far better than the all round tints, plus looked at past threads which confirm it's now illegal to have the fronts tinted.

Yeah matey, I get all mine and most of my mates tints done at a place called VTS in Oldham. I can vouch for their good prices and quality film only used.

Why post up a thread about a leicester based tinting company when one has already been posted up about a Oldham based company? 10 miles or 100.... Hummm.... searching really that useful huh? Lol

Coolio fella. They are really nice people there and will discuss your requirements in full before even starting the job. They can do lighter film for any particular areas you may require too. after the film settles down the finish is excellent.slane said:

Anyone had any issues with the law over the tints? Want mine done but after seeing a black scooby with the fronts ripped out due to the police im a bit worried
No probs with mine yet.
Went for 50% down the sides so it's not too dark.
I have been parked up in the traffic dept compound at more than 1 police force and had a couple of Police motorcyclists admiring them at Fort William last year. I think if they aren't too dark and you don't drive like a knob and draw attention to yourself then they leave you alone.

Is that 50% all around? I was thinking of 25% on the front two and 50% for back two and rear window

20% - Dark
35% - Medium
50% - Light
I didn't want it too dark with the car being black. Lighter cars can get away with darker tints I think.

Remember folks - ANY level of tint on the front windows is illegal and potential for Police trouble. I had 35% all round, stopped by the Police and fined (£30) for illegal front tints and given 10 days to remove them. I now have clear security film on the fronts.
Using the Tintman device to check my windows, the 35% tinted windows only let through 40% light - the legal limit is 70%. Standard tinted glass let through 83% - so you only have 13% light to play with - so unless you can find an 87% tint film - anything else is illegal.
Police up here recently sat just before Crail 1/4 mile and booked 200 cars for illegal tints as all the modded cars headed to the event.

Ah i got the % the wrong way round, i thought the higher the % the darker they were! Cheers for that, as that could have been costly!
