window tints?

does any one know whats going off with the window tints in england, what the legal limit, some people say 70% light through, and some people say only if standerd, please inform

not that complicated really anything on the back and 70% light through front windows (noting that u cant use 30% tint on the front as 100% light isnt let through anyway)

wrong guiness. You cant tint the front/ front side windows at all, i think almost every car comes with a factory tint anyway, which is the legal limit. Anything goes on the rear/ rear side

Sorry Guinness mate but u are wrong, since start of Jan 04 no tint is legally allowed forward of the b pillar!! VVV

"Vehicle Tint Law
Amendments to Legislation During the early part of 2004, Section 32 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations will be amended to include "Window Tint Films", where such materials attached to the glass are capable of reducing the Visible Light Transmission of forward windows to below prescribed levels. These changes will be back-dated to become applicable from 1st January 2004.

This will effectively ban virtually all tinted films fitted to windows forward of the B-Post on any vehicle that is to be driven on UK roads.

All Businesses that have supplied window tints forward of the B-Post are being encouraged by the Government and the Glass and Glazing Federation to contact all of their previous customers to inform them of the changes to Legislation and to offer them a chance to have their vehicle rectified by having the front tints removed."

Got my tints done at south coast tints,and the law state's you are not allowed anything more than 30% on the passanger fronts,the standard is about 22% so i had a 7% film put on front,doen't do much. ive heard in a couple of year's it will be a MOT fail if over 30%...........

i have had it done lads, it is tinted 70% light transmittent on the front, not mega black but you can c a difference, and then i have had 15% light transmittent on the back, it looks really nice now, i fell back in love with it and decided i am keeping it a bit longa, also to get my no claims down a bit been as i not been driving long, will try and post some pictures for you all.

the next mod im looking at is spacing the front wheels 15mm, my mate has done this on his bora and it looks cool. and mine need to match the back through my eyes, so i feel spacing them 15mm insted of 20mm will be fine coz they stuck out more than the back in the 1st place

the police need access to your vehicle to measure the level of tint also they have to have the equipment, which your everyday police car does not carry! i spoke to a window tinter up here and in his opinion unless you have a fairly heavy tint the police arent going to pull you over for tints. If you have limo tints all round and are hangin about mcdonalds carparks etc then yeah, your askin for trouble. dont get me wrong im not saying everyone will be fine but i think if your sensible about it, and go for subtle tints at the front and avoid drawing attention to yourself you should be ok, but again this is where i stay so i speak for a specific area, police departments in each region dictate how heavy they will clamp down on illegal tints (and this will prob relate to how their crime stats are doing lol)

haha, mine is all legal though mate, dint wana risk it, coz they cost me 180, and its pointless spendin all tht muni on sumat t have em riped out, it still looks wikid though

when i bought my lcr it had black tints all round and it looked the dogs,bt suprise suprise the five o had a word and off it came on the front 2 windows,looks **** now! are the mirror tints legal?
