I can answer this as I did it at the weekend and it is still in parts in my room!

Video is the door card removal. From there you need to remove all the connected wires from the door card. There are 15 or so star screws on the back that keep the arm rest attached, remove that and then you can remove the plastic insert and finally you get access to the switch.

this is what it should look like when you get everything unclipped. Dash tools are a must to prize the door card off and also the soft part of the arm rest from the plastic insert. Take your time, I managed to break a couple of clips :(

And here is the switch and the little connector bit. My wife works for VW so I paid just over £17, part number is 5G0959855B. Hope that helps

Failing that, rice and airing cupboard to see if that sorts it.

Sadly I am driving around like this until the weekend as that is when the part will get in and I didn't want the ball ache of taking it all apart again

All this to stop it rattling. I had to tape up the large plastic wedge as it was completely loose, the seal long since gone

that sounds like a simple reset. Hold it down all the way, same to go up and that should enable it once more.

ah. To take it apart would certainly show up any issues, but it will take you a little bit of time to sort so I can understand why you wouldn't want to just for such a small issue.

Hi Clark p, managed to get my drivers switch wet over the weekend and switches are intermittent in working, did contact cleaner work for you? did you just spray into switches when held down??

thanks

If it's sticking - use WD40...... If it's rattling - then gaffer tape!! (Army repair techique - LOL)
