I can answer this as I did it at the weekend and it is still in parts in my room!
Video is the door card removal. From there you need to remove all the connected wires from the door card. There are 15 or so star screws on the back that keep the arm rest attached, remove that and then you can remove the plastic insert and finally you get access to the switch.
this is what it should look like when you get everything unclipped. Dash tools are a must to prize the door card off and also the soft part of the arm rest from the plastic insert. Take your time, I managed to break a couple of clips
And here is the switch and the little connector bit. My wife works for VW so I paid just over £17, part number is 5G0959855B. Hope that helps
Failing that, rice and airing cupboard to see if that sorts it.
Sadly I am driving around like this until the weekend as that is when the part will get in and I didn't want the ball ache of taking it all apart again
All this to stop it rattling. I had to tape up the large plastic wedge as it was completely loose, the seal long since gone
