am no expert so dnt laugh...Neway i used to have a clio 172 cup and was aware if i put a open induction kit on it, it would lose power due to the warm air. But was once told if you have a turbo it would be ok to fit a induction kit..Is this true.

am due to take delivery of a Ibiza 1.8T FR in a few weeks so a nice induction kit would be cool if there were no power losses.

help guys:confused:

it won't do an awful lot to a standard car, personally i would just mod the airbox and intake and change the standard air filter for a freen element replacement one

will that sound better?
how do you smooth the air box , dont think i would do that on a brand new car

ant did a thread on it basically inside the air box where the filter sits has raised sections this is restrictive to the air flow as the air enters the box from the bottom where all these ridges are taking them out make the air flow smoother into the filter. with a replacement filter more air will flow through so better throttle response and bit more induction noise. nothing fantastic tho but all helps

iv got the dynatwist induction kit on mine i havent noticed any power loss, but intilll on get it on the rollers i wont no for certain. In terms of sound theres hardly and difference inless you take the heatshield off then you get a nice roar and the whoosh off the dv. but doin that you do get the warm air

You've got a couple of options to choose from:

Putting a Dynatwist on the car, the dynatwsit is supposed to "twist" the air creating around 8bhp and 13lbs/ft torque but thats on a chipped Cupra. This includes a Cold Air Feed which the original air box has but it’s a moulded all-in one. (The air intake on a cupra is just off to the right of centre at the front of the car). Or another good one is RamAir. The XL dynatwsit it's quite tight to fit in a cupra engine bay.

Mod your air box as Ant and gazjones have previously described, this will do pretty much the same as the Dynatwsist/RamAir Induction kit apart from it won't "twist" the air like the Dynatwist. Also takes around 1 hour to smooth out the air box.

An open induction kit will require a heat shield (you will probably have to make one, someone in the MK3 section has a picture of his as his avatar and has PM'ed people with instructions on how to make one) or you will suck in hot air, and as you know hot air is less dense than cold air equalling less power
