Why is there a hole in my inlet manifold?

Is this normal?

Also, what the hell is this, it was hanging loose by my horn - don't look like a connector on the end, but it does have a retaining clip up the side just like all other connectors do - me confused!

the hole in inlet manifold is normal mate - or at least i've got it too.

Other bit - no idea?

I was gonna block it up with a screw, glad I didn't go full steam ahead on that one - never know what its there for.

Bottom one is the external temp sensor, should be pushed into a holder behind the front passeneger side lower grille...

If the hole in the manifold goes all the way through I think hat's a problem, because it's an entry for unfiltered air...

its a threaded hole. Goes right the way in there

Pabs, is yours the same? I thought the previous owner had fitted something there but if Pabs' has it to then maybe its a std thing

mates Golf has the hole to...the fact that its threaded sort of means its meant to be there. but its not used

think that a type of clamp is attatched to it on other cars b ut not needed on leon/golf

it doesnt go all the way through

Well it goes right through the wall of the manifold, but then on the other side you can make out something metal looking thats blocking it, at least partially.

Which I had a surgical camer on a pipe cleaner now :D

totally off topic now, but as i've got a few mechanical minds in here at the moment, out of interest, what would happen if you bypassed the n75, i know the n249 can be bypassed, but i never heard of anyone doing it to the n75?

erm, probably something like the turbo never going on boost.

but im sure il lbe corrected...

as for the 'hole' in the inlet manifold, just think what problems people have if they have a leak in the pipework.

or... why add a turbo to create boost and then have a hole in the system so none of that boost reaches the engine.
