Why is mp3 so quiet?

I have now managed to wire up my new Pioneer HU properly and it works with the ignition etc. I have initialised the AUX In to work with seperate MP3 players but the sound is treally quiet and you have to have the volume way up.

Does anyone know why? Would a step up transducer help?

Cheers

on my pioneer headunit there is a function for boosting the volume / sound levels on a mp3 track or cd. might be worth checking if yours has.

It's quiet becasue it;s compressed music (i think!!??)

Cheers for that! Page 62 you can change input volume. That was far easier than I expected. I have it at +4 but it is still not as good as CD. Cheers though

Is the Aux input an amplified input at all? Also have you tried turning the volume up on your mp3 player?

exact what i was thinking, the line out from the mp3 player prob isnt powered and the aux in is prob not powered, so you wount have much signal going to the stereo amp
