Why does my lcr tick like a clock?

Does anyone know what this box is for and why it ticks?

If you undo the fuel cap and release the pressure the ticking will stop

Carbon canister I think its called.

yeah mine doesnt always tick, but was annoying me once i heard it

Good read! So when "The canister goes unused until the car is turned off again", why does it tick? Iv notice mine ticking more frequently now and mpg dropping, looking into it but welcome to sugestions.

TBH It is only nessisary if you live in california, rip it out!

im guessing you remove the box and just join the inlet and outlet hose together

The vacuum to the inlet...block it off at the inlet
The electric conector, cut it off and bridgh the wire with a resistor (cant remember of the top of my head what ohm, 330 i think.)
And the thin pipe going to it is a breather from your fuel tank i believe i extended it and ran it down into the wing, just to keep it out of harms way!
That will remove it and not show up any codes on VagCom.

could you leave it mechanically plugged in like the n249 or would it flag up?

when you say block it at the inlet is it just take th epipe off in the pic above and block there or traceit back a bit?
