White Dove Seat, Cardiff

I'll keep it concise so as not to infringe the 'witch-hunt' rules.

Recently bought a car from them and the service was really quite woeful.

The dealer was impolite - never once shook the hand of my wife or I, never once offered us a drink, never even thanked us for our business when he had bagged several thousand pounds of our money. And when we finally had the keys in our hand he didn't even walk us to the car to check that we were comfortable with the controls and see us off, preferring instead to suck up to some new potential customers who were mooching about.

I'm not expecting subservience or kowtowing but this bloke didn't even exhibit basic manners and common decency - when I was filling in the registration docs on my wife's behalf because she was busy changing our baby's nappy, he tried to brow-beat me into signing it on her behalf as he had an eye on some other punters who had wandered into the showroom. I said to him that if he wanted to give him some of their time he should go ahead and come back to us as we were going to do things in our own time. He bit his lip but just stood over me trying to look impatient to get us out of the door.

It's a shame, really, as a good impression and a bit of sensible compromise on the deal (he ended up budging by less than 1% of the screen price plus ~8 months tax - he wouldn't even stretch to a set of mats or a tank of fuel) would have likely resulted in him getting further business out of us in future for servicing and the like. Instead, we'll be seeking out someone else to hand our hard-earned over to.

Do a quick search for "Whitedove"... I don't think you'll find any positive comments about them :(

For parts & servicing, I'd highly recomment JP Board in Bridgend. They were a Seat main dealer up untill a few years ago, when Seat wanted them to move out of town to a bigger premises. They're a family run business and wanted to stay put, and so lost their franchise. They are now a Seat 'specialist' and still continue with Seat servicing schedules, genuine parts & accessories and sell nearly new & used Seats.

For Warranty stuff, I believe Thompsons in Newport & FRF in Swansea are pretty good, although I've not used them myself.

I must admit, the 'buying experience' at Whitedove wasn't too bad. They couldn't do enough for me to get a sale... they even beat a part exchange price on a 206 I had been given about 6 months earlier (about £1000 more than it was worth!) - as well as knocking a few hundred pounds off the screen price & throwing in metallic paint... and when I asked for mats & mudflaps, they gave me the mats and took the price of the mud flaps off because they didn't have any on stock... and I got 0% finance over 3 years as well :)

After sales is a joke though. Servicing & parts... forget it! I learned that after buying my FR. I haven't been back there since picking up my Cupra R almost two years ago...

White Pigeon strikes again.

Parts department is probably the worst place i've ever been to for customer service even if you went there with part numbers!

Yep, we all know about White dove. Had my LC (01) from Thomson & Thomson. Can't fault them tbh. Gave all his time and wasn't interested in the other people waiting to be seen. Rang 30mins before I got there to check they still had the car, and when i arrived they had given it a clean inside and out. Didn't budge much on price, but did give it a full 60k service including fan belt and water pump, and gave it a new MOT with 3 months left (which i didn't even ask them to do).

Only 3 months? Only another month or so to go then... when they do eventually call to tell you the parts have been hanging around for months and to ask if you still want them... they'll be the wrong parts!

When I collected my LCR from new, I found the small front manifold cover down behind the radiator. I asked for 2 screws so I could put it back on, and showed them the part I needed the screws for. About 6 weeks later I had some stroppy parts guy call me asking if I still want the parts I ordered and made a point of telling me they've been cluttering up his work space for ages!

I went in to collect these two screws... but they ordered another bloody engine cover! The two screws were re-ordered, obviously not their fault, Seat sent the wrong part! Another few weeks later I had a call. Finally, I get to put my cover back on! Nope :( They ordered the 1/4 turn screws for the main engine cover instead!

Gave up in the end. Went to JP board and ordered them. Arrived next day. Had a call as soon as they came in. Ordered, delivered, collected & fitted in the space of two days. Can't fault them! Their service department is excellent too, been there for my 10k & 20k service. Just a shame they're not a franchised dealer any more & can't do waranty work.
