whistling from engine when full throttle

for a few days i didnt have a air box. when i put my foot down is a highish gear (eg 3) at revs around 2k, there is a whistling kind of noise (like a turbo but all the time with your foot down). i fitted a k&n today expecting that noise to go away but it hasnt. any ideas what the problem is? i still havnt put the oil breather filter on though, could this be the cause? thanks is advance

ye, you will get a funny noise if you aint got no airbox!

my 1.0ltr does this constantly, i just assumed it was the natural noise of the car. i just joke that its some sort of supercharger.. hehe

im going to keep a check on this thread, hopefully i could get some good info from it!!

is that all it is then? lack of airbox?

My GTi does that when i accelerate at any speed/revs. Ain't got a clue what it is though, i just turn up the music so i cant hear it.

that puts my mind at rest a bit. my mate said the only way you will find out is if u drive someone else's ibiza. i dont know anyone else who has one though, but it looks like it isnt just my car then

my 1.0 used to do it and when u lifted of it made a hissing noise like a quite dump valve lol.
shame the 1.4 doesnt lol
then it used to make a proper whistling noise all the time that increased with the engine speed.... then one day i turned my head unit off and it went away, it was feedback through my speakers hahaha

My 2l 8v did it, sometimes made an odd sounding dump valve noise too.
