Driving this evening...

All i get now is a whinning whistling sound and i have next to no power, cant take it past 2k revs.

First suspect is boost pipes, ive ripped the arch out etc and all the pipe work that is visable appears to be ok? i cant check the piping that goes back to the turbo though...

Is it likely to be just a boost leak or turbo gone poop?

help apreciated asap - its not great working with a lamp under your car at 10:10pm haha.

Generally speaking if it was a turbo failure you'd have blue smoke.

Although having said that if its got a major boost leak you should have black smoke where its overfueling.

Its a turbo failure and limp mode, caused by underboosting. White/greyish smoke comes from unburnt oil which comes into the exhaust and turns into steam there...

Its a very smooth progressive map. Turbo's on 106k so its about right i guess.

Its questionable whether to call it hybrid time. But that means intercooler and clutch for a start.

Just saved up enough for a cambelt change... typical this happens.

106k is alright its had a fair run, its possible if you didnt own it from new that the person before you treated it badly too.
If you've owned it from new its possible its just "one of those turbos"

Well it had done 82k within the first 3 years warrenty. Also had an A4 page as a list of parts replaced. Unfortunately ive lost it though, so cant see if there was any turbo components on there.

These turbos just bolt off bolt on? should be able to do it myself with some ramps??
