hi i have a tdi fr 150bhp with a remap so pushing 190bhp.

when doing some heavy braking the other day i noticed my pads seemed to be on fire, now these are rubbish 30 quid a pair pads but i don't want to make the same mistake again.

has anyone got any advice on which pads i should fit for good braking and no fire??

cheers

Mintex 1144 compound are very, very good for fast road use. Most people (certainly in the kit car world) rate them much higher than the Greenstuff pads. As they have better cold bite, but no fade with heat either.

Avoid going to anything harder for road use (redstuff, 1166 etc), otherwise you may find them scary coming to a junction or roundabout after not using your brakes for a while!

Just my personal findings :)

PS possibly also worth doing the 312mm upgrade?

Yeah all the R boys rave about them.

I'm looking at the moment on my stock Cupra TDi and to be honest, although I'd really love to go the 312mm upgrade route it's proving a right hassle to track down the carriers and they're not cheap at all.

Basically can't afford anything amazing so going for standard pads from brakesint.com (<£40) and a set off 288x25 grooved and drilled disks at ~£70 for the pair.

Will fit myself.

Incidentally, anyone knwo how much it costs for OE repacement at SEAT?

I have sorted my brake issue with some tarox 6 potters with corsa + pads (£200 for the pads) these work without fade or over heating problems lap after lap of any circuit. They spend most of there time on the nurburgring:)
