Which Bluetooth, iPod headunit?

Hello,

This is my first post to the forum, I hope someone will be able to help.

I am thinking about getting a new stereo that will allow me to connect my iPod into it and control it via my steering controls. I currently have the standard AUX in, but would prefer to control everything from my steering wheel controls.

With going to the hassle of putting a new unit it, I thought I'd get one that did Bluetooth for hands free phone. A Sony MEX-BT2600 was suggested, but I read reviews that said the lights were too bright for night driving and because the speaker was behind the panel it wasn't great, so I now think an external speaker would be better.

I've found that a lot of bluetooth stereos have blue lights - but the Ibiza has all red lights so if possible I'd like it to have matching red lights.

I'm not sure which ones will fit, are there different sizes etc? I found a Pioneer DEH-P7100 BT that has an external mic and uses Parrot Bluetooth. (I tried to put a link in, but I'm not allowed on my first post :( )

Does anyone know if it would fit the Ibiza, and if it would what leads would be needed to link to iPod and steering controls?

Sorry for such a long post! Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks for your quick reply.

Was it easy to fit or did you get it fitted where you bought it? Shame it doesn't link to the steering wheel.

Can the people on the other end of the phone hear you ok when you're driving? Does your phonebook link up to it okay?

thats ok! ye was so easy took five mins, is ur standard cd player stil in? mine already had an aftermarket one with the adapter which you can buy from halfords for £15. just ask them at the till for the right one. then it just clips into the new headunit, slide it in, and your done! the phone function is really good i was quite suprised, i thought you would hear cabin noise too much but it is soo clear and you barely have to talk loud for them to hear you. i paired up my blackberry to it, and u just push in the volume button on the phone mode, and it asks you to say a command, then you can just say call, then say a name and then it calls! and the best thing is once its paired, if your bluetooth is on you never have to touch it, it links automatically. well worth getting mate and you wont need an external mic.

Ive just bought a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD, if its in your budget its a fantastic player and sounds amazing. Retails around ?350 but i got mine imported for around ?240. Plays everything you throw at it including dvds/divx and of course has ipod connectivity, touchscreen, around 50 colour variations and is Dual-Din so it fits perfectly in the dash. it does need a seperate bluetooth adaptor though to use blutooth

i vote Pioneer mate  although Alpine are up there as well, however, they're slightly more compicated to use

i just bought a DEH-P600BT for my mum's Merc A-Class, got a DEH-P65BT in mine (no longer stocked) and it works perfectly, all controls and inputs that came with the car work a treat on it along with all the extras ;)

a must if you're looking at a good hu at a good price...and they look good in the Ibiza's (if it comes in red illumination)

Thanks for your replies.

Do the Pioneer and the Becker allow the steering wheel controls to work?
