Hello!

Treated myself to a new headunit for after xmas and was curious about a few things.!

Ive installed the new unit, was surprised how little room these is back there! The old unit was tight but this is worse, im worried its going to get very very hot, is there a way of loosening things up back there??

One last thing, ive currently put the ipod cable through one of the holes where the 'heat warmers' buttons would be so they come out by the cigarette lighter socket.

Where has everyone else got theirs and isit worth moving them to the glovebox? and is it easy to move it to there because i could not see any easy access to it without cutting anything out!

Thanks

Stu!

Is that that rectangular patch at the back bottom right corner? I saw that and didnt really want to cut it out. Is there another easy entrance?

Its quite a big area to cut out just for a cable isnt it? Im worried that other things I put in the glovebox will fall through!

Is that the only way in from behind?

Thanks

when a cd changers in ther no worries about stuff falling through as it fills the box! can you not just cut enough out for the cable?

i did think that but its an ipod connector so its a bloody rectangular shape! Id have to cut out a bigger shape anyway to get the head through :(

you could cut it the pannel out, modify it and glue it back in, might not look to great though

You can always undo all the torx screws holding the upper interior section of the glovebox in place, then feed your ipod connector onto the glovebox along the right hand side of the box then replace this upper section. this way you will have the wire into the glovebox without having to hack away any bits of plastic. this is what i have done for some other cables in my car anyway. Hope this makes sense!

I did see those screws, i thought they were for the whole thing and didnt fancy having the whole bloody glovebox all over the place, do some of them just take off the top area of it?

Glennolls.... I know its a little cheeky but could you take a photo and show me how you have done that, to give me a basic idea? :)

Thanks

Its a while since i did mine, i'll go have a look in a little bit and take a photo for you as its probably easier than trying to explain!

Theres not too many screws from memory. and the top section will fall down allowing you to pass the wire into the glovebox then you can just screw the top section back in place.

Standby for a photo shortly

Ok theres 6 screws to undo, three as shown in this pic:

and then the same on the other side of the glovebox. 2 of these screws are the ones with the rubber bit on that stop the glovebox door rattling about when its shut (the round thing you can see at the left of the picture) then there's 2 at the front edge of the glove box then 2 at the back of it.

Heres how my wires pass through:

hope that helps you

you Glennolls, are a ledgend! I see exactaly what you mean! Those rubber ones may be a challenge but im sure when i see them it will work out fine!

When i have abit of time ill pull it out and put it all back again!

Ive noticed there is no room behind the headunit and im sure the cables are pressed up against the back of the headunit and it seems to get extremely hot! there anything i can do about that?

Thanku :)

No worries, glad its helped you out.

The rubber bumper bits just have a screw in the middle of them so they just unscrew as normal. The upper plastic section might need a little tug to get it moving but its a pretty quick job once you get started.

Good luck with it
