Where is the Coolant Level Sensor cable?

hi. My girlfriend has a ibiza tdi sport 130 its a 2003. The red light on the temp gauge beeps every time the car is started. Now i know this is a low coolant sensor but when lifting the bonnet the expansion tank does not have the wire connected to the socket. The trouble is i cant find the wire. Could someone tell me roughly where abouts in the engine bay the wire comes from so that i can try and trace it. Any pictures would be a great help. Also the fuel gauge sometimes works and sometimes it does not. Everything else is fine. Any ideas?

is it worth plugging in vag.com? If it is the cluster is there a way of repairing them or is it time for a trip to the stealer? I have had the cluster out of my leon before so should not be too difficult to get out
