I've not heard good things about megasquirt. As m0rk says, they need a lot of work to get them up and running properly.

Toyotec is still a regular on club gti. You won't find many tuners willing to fit megasquirt to your car though. Get yourself on google and have a search around about it. Why do you want megasquirt anyway?

thought this would be of use as theres loads of standalone systems out there which are pricey to buy, the kits are brand new, and assembled to a high standed, as complete with labled wireing loom, instalation cd, etc ,,,as i know this kit was setup and tunied and runs/boosts a treat , once the niggy tunieing parts were sorted out ,,,

From a thread i think you've read/posted in.... search button broken today? ;)

Definitely if you're running a 20VT, use the OE setup where possible. Well worth it.

QPE is 'nice' but not cheap - it won't give you the control, or safety the OE has

Megasquirt (from experience) is a laugh to build & setup if that's your mindset, but the wiring was such a pain in the ass. It appealed to my mindset, but it wasn't easy going.

i've been lookin into ms and it seems it a pain in the back side to set and takes alot of time

As with all stand alone ecu's. One easy way to do the conversion other than swapping dashes etc too would be to get the immobilizer removed from the ECU although leaving your car a little less safe.
