When to do timing belt and water pump

Just become the proud owner of a pre-facelift TFSI FR (DSG). Its got 39k on the clock and apparently due next service at 44k. My question is, should I be doing the timing belt & water pump at the next service interval, or sooner even?

Also, is there anything else I should be replacing/looking out for in a car this type/age, other than it being thirsty for oil?

Congrats on the car. Exactly the same as mine.

Where did you get it and what year is it?

It will be due a DSG service at 40K which costs in the region of £200. I bought my car at 38k found out about the DSG service and had the dealer sort it for me FOC. I had asked questions at time of purchase about the box they hadn't answered correctly so I put it on them a bit.

At 40k it will be worth changing the cam follower and there is plenty of info on here about that if you search. Mine starter having PCV issues at around 50k and so I replaced that then

Also if you plan on a remap it will be worth changing the diverter valve to revision D or G.

Cheers Aaron. Its a 57 plate, bought privately so unfortunately no free DSG service for me.

Good shout with the cam follower - will definitely include that in the next service.

Would the diverter valve be the only thing I'd need to replace if I did a modest remap? I'm nervous about doing it in-case there are loads of additional upgrades required.

Is it recommended to change the fuel pump on pre 09 cars only, was post 09 a design change with this?
