hi guys,

am hoping to become the owner of a yellow 04 reg 1.2 ibiza soon, unfortunately it's far too standard for me!

am looking to put some decent alloys on it, but i have no technical knowledge whatsoever, it's got 14's on it at the mo but i've seen that a lot of people have 17's on their ibiza's, is this an easy thing to do ro does it require surgery?? also....... if i get tyres that are 205/40/17 will they fit the car or should i go safe and stick to 16's? and finally once these are on do i need to lower the thing 2??

I don't want to over do the thing, less is more after all :p just looking for decent wheels, maybe a little bit of colour coding the rub strips and bumpers for now plus the customary stereo and sub combo (it's gotta be done lol) just wanted some advice!

maybe when it's paid for (damn you personal loans!) i'll get some cupra bumpers or something on it but for now i'm going for the colour coded not too over the top look!

any help would be much appreciated!

cheers

danmay

The search function is your friend.

This is why many people have read your thread, but not replied :D

Alloys - Personally, id go for a set of FR pre-facelift 16's as :

1. Will handle rather well even on stock suspension with the 205/45/16's
2. Wont dent the huge and all important performance of the 1.2 powerhouse!

But, yes either way it needs lowering. Alot! Id est. around 70mm on the back, and 50mm on the front imho.

Remember, search!!

I stuck with 16s as not 2 affect the small engine too much. If you need any advice I with the 1.2 I might know the answer been playing with mine a lot lol

 im sorry guys!

i can't afford a cupra yet i'm only a nipper and the insurance man doesn't like me at the best of times, it's a sound compromise me thinks!

So Guiness, how is your 1.2, should i get one??
so i think after that advice i'll go shopping for 16's, did you have to lower yours too or are the wheels ok on stock suspension?

I've had my 1.2 over 2 years now! I'd stick with 16s max. I had 15" alloys then 17" alloys and now back on 14" steels as it accelerates a little better and is a lot less harsh on the speed bumps.

If I was in your position I'd go for the 1.4TDI or even the 1.9TDI if your budget can stretch. With 1 yrs NCB the 1.9TDI insurance is only £200 more than my 1.2 :(

nothing wrong with the 1.2 must say I love it, all my mates drive corsas n tbh there nothing compared 2 this. Its not quick but its ok for cruising round in and for the price and mpg its great. At the moment Im fitting a new headunit and I have 16 inch Seat sport alloy wheels on with toyo tyres rather good must say
