Im getting to the point where Im going to fit these sport alloy wheels I bought not so long ago (havnt been using that car much lately so havnt needed to fit em yet) anyway Im wondering do I need some new wheel bolts. I was told a long time ago that when changing from steels to alloy u need bolts that are compatible with the wheel so they dont become damaged

i changed from steel wheels to a set of FR alloys. I got the bolts with the new alloys too but they were identical to the ones i took off my car with the steel wheels. So i'd guess you'd be ok with the original bolts. Others may have a more informed opinion though!

Hi,
From what I've been told there's basically two kinds of bolts, ones with a convex kind of base and others with a cone-kind of base. With original equipment (Seat alloys) and steels you should be fine with the convex-types and if you buy OZs or other non-Seat alloys you must get the cone-base bolts.

The threads and lengths should be the same unless you use spacers (with spacers get longer bolts).

Hit me if I'm wrong :)
