Wheel bearing

Evening all,

After some comments from t'other half about how her LCR was making a funny noise (and getting worse) we've had a check and have come to the conclusion that the OSF wheel bearing is giving up.
I'm gonna have it in the air at the weeken to check for play etc but reckon it's that.

So, my question is.... where do i get one? best from SEAT or anyone else do any out there?

Also, any ideas what we are looking at price wise?

Cheers.

Check your cv joints aswell. I thought I hade a worn wheelbearing, but it turned out to be my inner cv joint. (Noise when turning and on throttle, sharp left)

I replaced both front bearings recently.

The noise was a 'humming' vibration worse under high speed when cornering. Basically the bearing is so worn that it can no longer support axial rotation under load so it 'wobbles' of axis and you get the vibration. It should be worse when cornering one direction.

I could not feel any play from either side so I assumed it was the O/S as i thought the noise was coming from there and its under more load when going round roundabouts etc. I was wrong. One new bearing fitted and exactly the same noise, so I had to do the other side the next day.

I did mine for £30 a side (just the cost of the bearing) as I did them myself. At a guess I would say £100 for a garage and at least if they mess up like me they will have to do the correct one.

Cheers for replies guys. Hadn't really thought about cv joint, and will check that out as well. (My list of chores for the weekend is worrying me now as I might not have enough time to "test" our new PS3!

But it's a humming that's getting worse and increases with speed so my first guess is bearing. I'll be doing it myself so hopefully can get away with £30 (or £60 if I replace both fronts just to be safe!).

Did you get yours just from SEAT parts storey?
