Wheel bearing issues?

Afternoon all,

I'm 90% sure one of my wheel bearings needs replacing BUT...other than the 'squeeling' noise is there any other tell tail signs of a worn bearing? My car does some to 'whine' more now than in the past...but that might be all in my mind.

And is there anyway i can work out which wheel it is?

A high pitched squeeking sound can be heard coming from the passenger side, but not sure which wheel, and it doesn't always squeek.

How much to get it replaced, i.e. cost of parts?

Is it something i'd be able to do in my garage with the right knowledge?

Any info appreciated!!

James

Tell tell signs are grinding when your turning.

Should cost about £20 from ECP for the bearing then take the complete hub to a garage to get the bearing pressed in. Unless you have access to a hydraulic press that is

I changed my rear wheel bearings the other day, they were £100 for both. Wasn't expecting them to be quite as exspensive but it included the hubs aswell.

I think one of my rears might need doing now.. If I jack the car up, is there an easy way to tell (i.e. play in the horizontal axis?)

What sort of job is it... I've got some skills but work better with a guide - any pointers or existing guides?

clear area and drive steady in a slalom effect to see if the noise alters at all

sometimes the extra stress can make a grumbling bearing quieter/louder as you push on and off it
