I've just changed my 17" tdi fr+ wheels for a set of lcr 18's.
What would you do with the 17's ? Keep them for winter wheels or sell them on and if so how much would you ask for them. 2 have brand new (less than 200 miles) toyo t1r's and 2 have 1/3 worn t1r's.
The alloys themselves are in reasonable condition, one or two nicks and slight kerb marks, but nothing major.
TBH my feelings are to keep them for now, refurb the 18's when the tyres are shot then re-evaluate the situation then.
What do you all think ?

I've got another set of alloys with winter tyres on them and its great to know when it snows I just need to whip these out of the shed and I'm on my way.
The tyres I would sell on if you didn't think you would use them again when you get your winter tyres.
I have had Michiline Pilot Alpin 2's for two years now, these will do probably another two years at least. These were very expensive (£175 each) but atleast with seperate alloys you don't have to pay to swap these between alloys all the time.
Also if you keep your 17" wheels you will be cheaper for winter tyres than if you fit these to your LCR wheels

Cheers Willie, we dont get the snow down here just a bit of ice and frost. So I wouldnt really be looking to change the tyres. My thought was just to protect the 18's from the winter salt and the possibility of sliding against a kerb.

sell the 17s and use the cash to spunk on other mods. no real need here to have 2 sets, just clean and wax the lcr alloys regularly.

Hello Dave,

Your plan sounds like a good one to me. Having the 18s refurbed will be easier logistically if you have another set of wheels to go on while the 18s are being done. After that you can decide whether you want a stack of wheels in your garage all year round, or whether you'd rather free up some cash. Selling the 17s would probably cover the cost of refurbing the 18s, if nothing else.
