Whats the worst that can happen ...

OK - I've got the the money and arranged the insurance, and am about to get the Revo upgrade ..

Am now starting to worry about the implications for the car - its a 54 plate Cupra R, and the thought of blowing up the engine, then ofcourse not being covered by warranty is starting to worry me !!

What are peoples experiences - how likely is the worst case senario with a Revo upgrade - is there anything you can do to reduce the likelyhood of things going wrong - ie using Optimax, not putting your foot down all the time etc etc ..

Any help would be much appreciated !

Main advice is to run the car using a normal revo setting ie. LB9 T5/6 (dependant upon fuel used), this has changed on the newer SPS switches but this will pretty much be the default setting. I'm sure that a lot is documented on here with regards to the engine and life, people have used the upgrades on diesels in excess of 100k miles without issues.

Main thing is that it's a worthwhile purchase and will bring a smile to your face, main way to reduce anything going wrong would be to limit your right foot use to the redline every time you go through a gear, so common sense will be the best thing to use.

not putting your foot down all the time seems a pointless exercise
having said that you will find you can drive around as quickly or even quicker than before without giving the car so much stick.

almost every component will potentially have more demand put on them
but how often when driving are you actually using the full potential?
95% of the time you are at a constant speed and so there is no difference.

the main areas that get effected by a remap would be:
turbo...
gearbox...
tyres!
pipework, has been known to pop off...

but these are all components that can go on a standard car.
these remaps are pretty reliable, there are very few people who have had probs.
go for it.

Yep carry a spare jubilee clip to suit, change to a forge 007p also is a good idea, and I always used to check my pipe from time to time just to be on the safe side
