As the title really, I'm pretty sure the FR was just the new name for the 130 sport, but I didnt know if they changed anything else?

Cheers

Slightly different gear ratios
Slightly harder ride on FR
New seats
Silver wing mirrors on FR
Body coloured Door handles on FR
FR specific dials
Silver dash insert on FR
Different wheels
FR has smoked silver rear lights
FR has grey headlight inserts - sport's are black
Not sure if 130 sport had TCS - think it did - but not 100%

That's about it

So a cosmetic facelift and different gearbox and springs.

Nothing wrong with a good old 130 sport then?

Hmmm

No - the differences are almost entirely cosmetic - the old Sport is a real Q car - the FR likes to hint at it's abilities a bit more.

Oh yeah - FR has twin exit chrome exhausts too - sport's are concealed.

Will prob remember more in a bit!! :)

So it would be recommended to get one then. Excellent, I do like them but couldnt face knowing it would worse than an FR! (engine wise)

Does the Sport have the same turbo as the Cupra? Is it just the intercooler and map that frees up the extra stallions?

Cupra has a bigger turbo and a FMIC and much bigger brakes!

The Sport is a good value for money car which goes well and is rellatively cheap to insure. A remap will see you up to 170-180 bhp and circa 300lb/ft torque

Just to stick my oar in, my FR has the centre sunvisor but only a rear centre lap belt. I've also got heated mirrors and that funny little button in the driver's footwell. What does that do? I know, I know.:p

Lol, a lot of changes come to light!

This car is going to have to have some serious thought put to it. The cupra is going to be a little out of my league for a while. And I do like the sleeper look of the sport. Plus IMO any ibiza slammed on nice rims looks the biz, (hell I'm easy to please!)

Oh and the lap belts, if I can fit any 3 of my mates in the back (these are NOT small guys here) then I will have to drive carefully.

A work colleague has just bought a brand new FR. I've got an 03 130 Sport and tbh I am glad I saved myself 5k or so.

The alloys are an inch bigger on the FR, and it looks pretty much like the Cupra. As far as I can tell from being in both cars, the suspension feels the same (not to say it is though) and hers has come with an aux thingie for an mp3 player.
Aside from that, I am not sure that it is much different apart from cosmetic things like gear stick, steering wheel (hers has audio controls, mine doesn't, but mine is a nice leather one), seats feel the same, but look different.

They both have all the same toys (aside from aux socket and audio controls as mentioned).

Just to add that is the new facelift FR!

FR replaced Sport 130

The FR replaced the TDI 130 sport and on the way they beefed it up with some more stylish/muscley looks, and the price tag.... The reason why I know; I ordered an Ibiza FR TDI when they first came out...

At the end of the day you have basicly got the same car, but you have an extra £5k in ya pocket, you can't argue with that....you want bigger alloys buy em, if ya want the aux mp3 thing get an itrip or similar device... if you want it to look like an FR buy the badge and the silver door mirror covers.. viola...apart from the valances and the age no one will need know..
