Need to replace all three oem blades due to excessive noise now.
Just had a look on Halfords and there's different brands and even silicone blades nowadays !
Looking at the reviews with no conclusive results. In fact there's quite a few say they didn't fit the car despite being told they would.
Really confused now (well I am old ;))
Any pointers?

Seriously?

I've always had good results with Bosch Aerotwin, but currently running Valeo Silencio which seem just as good.

I‘ve been happy with Bosch Aerotwin too; fitted them to my previous two cars when I replaced the OEM blades. I’ve also read favourable comments on Valeo Silencio blades on other forums.

If I buy directly from dealer or service, it will cost 4 or 5x more at least.

don't know the cost as I didn't have to replace them yet. Yes, it would definitely cost more but don't think more than double the price of the aftermarket ones. Check first with the dealer.

Considering they are charging four times more than a normal service point (like Shell station) for a simple oil change, I "assume" they will charge a lot for wipers. Last year I bought first aid kit from the service point and I paid around 25 Euros for it. Later on I checked on Amazon and price was like 10 Euro.

Abt double the money, its normal, dealers have a lot of expenses to cover to provide you with all your car may need, not like an eshop, you may even get better deals and discounts from the dealer if you are a customer. My thing is to go only for oem products, especially for a new car, every time in the past I used aftermarket parts I regretted it.

Heh, as for me, every car I've ever owned; one of the first things I do, is remove the OEMs and put on a set of Bosch Aerotwins.

The OEM rear blade for the Formentor in particular, is notorious for developing a horrid squeal, no such issue with the slightly shorter Bosch.

Amusingly though, I've always had a problem with OEM wiper blades in general, no matter the car brand, no matter the age. Streaking, ghosting or squeaking with the OEM blades, all issues that get solved with Bosch wipers.

Before anybody says, that's just because they are new wipers... hmmm no, not really... service history from previous owners show them paying up to replace their wipers at every dealership service interval with written comments about "noise". Bad design is bad design.

wipers blades have to be cleaned from time to time with wet hankies (or similar) as they accumulate dirt and sap which leads them to lose their characteristics thus start streaking and then squeaking etc. Nevertheless, their longevity depends mainly on weather (climate) , driving road conditions and whether the car is parked outside or inside. Fortunately, although I drive in a mainly hot climate, my car is always parked inside, at work and at home, thus, after 60 k km still not an issue with the oem wiper blades, not even the rear one, they are as efficient as day one. When replacement time comes I will switch to aftermarket only in case the oem cannot be sourced.
