What VAGCOM for MK4 Ibiza Facelift/Skoda Octavia Mk II

Me and my dad have been looking at VAGCOM all night.

I have an 06 plate Facelifted MK4 Ibiza 1.9 TDI 130
Dad's got an 05 plate Skoda Octavia MK2 2.0 TDI 140

We bought a VAGCOM cable ages ago from Ebay, and came to the conclusion that it was too old for our model of cars.

So, we're wondering - which cables actually work and on what interfaces?

you will need one that will work with can bus

A more complete answer: You need one that works with CAN bus *and* K-line. The Mk.2 Octavia could use a CAN-only interface, but the Ibiza needs K-line.

So What you need is a HEX+CAN, either Serial or USB, depending what kind of PC you're planning to use.

Thanks for your reply Uwe. You'll be pleased to know that I'm using a KKL 409.1 cable (again, unfortunately acquired from eBay) and I suspect that there is a problem with that.

Whenever I try and connect to either car, it can recognise the cable, but everything we try and do results in program repetitively trying to communicate, but never actually communicating with anything.

A "KKL 409.1" cable *might* talk to the engine on an Octavia-2, but even that's not a sure thing. It certainly won't talk to the rest of the stuff in the car.

But it should talk to the Ibiza. If it doesn't, I suggest you contact the vendor for assistance.

We've abandoned the cable and ordered a proper Ross Tech kit.
