Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a little bit of advice and help please. I currently own a 2003 1.2 Ibiza which I've had for 4 and a half years and use as run around. Its covered 124,000 miles and I regularly have it serviced and any faults or issues that occur I've always had fixed.
For the last year or so the AC/Heating has been playing up; it will blow ice cold air perfectly and then all of a sudden its like being in the middle of the desert with the heat it then produces! I've had it re-gassed so there is no issue there. Also in the last few weeks I've noticed the warning lights on the dash (airbag, seatbelt etc) have been sporadically twinkling; not fully on but not fully off and varying in brightness throughout a journey. It doesn't happen on every drive, but when it does the outside air temp gauge also drops arounds 10c in a matter of seconds.
I've taken it to my local garage who I trust and a number of fault codes have arisen:
AC/Heating System
65535 - Internal Control Module Error
01271 - Positioning Motor Temperature Flap, Defective
01596 - Motor for out/recirculation air flap, defective
01271 - Positioning Flap, Open or Short to Ground
01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculation Open or Short to Ground
Electric Central Electrics
00511 - Select Level (E313), upper limit exceeded
00778 - Steering angle sensor (G85)
01324 - Control module for all wheel drive, (J492)
The garage has said that fixing the AC/Heating isn't too bad and can be done but they can't guarantee that fixing that will fix the warning light issue, and if it doesn't it will probably cost more than the car is worth.
What I'm asking is if anyone has any experience with faults like this or any info or advice on what to do. The car at the moment is mechanically sound, but I obviously don't want to be spending an arm and leg to get it fixed. Im stuck between spending £300 getting the heating fixed and hope the warning lights stop twinkling, and cutting my loses and selling it and getting something different.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Amy
