What should oil temp be?

hey guys fitted oil temp gauge at weekend was a right bugger to do but got there in end.

just wondering what should the oil temp be around make sure mines working correctly got a metric one and seems to sit around 80-85 most of time cant boot it at min but does that seem about rigth would it got up more when giving it some stick?

Yeh. My mk2 wont go higher than 72 until i start to rev then it stays at about 80. And when i really rag it it goes upto 86.

You have a turbo to cool though.

what sender did you use and gauge,what fits? do the stealers do the sender?

I have a Auto-Meter gauge and it sits on 80-85, when driving hard it goes to about 90-95

sender was one that came with gauge its a auto meter phanthon gauge.

Mine sits just above 70deg -- it's a bit crap actually cos the scale reads up to 170, but it never goes above 85 in my case.

mine reads from 60 to 170 but not seen it about 85 lol

Yeah sorry, what I meant was on a 52mm gauge the scale reads quite high, but only uses the first quarter... the needle hardly seems to move. Mine are autometer phantom gauges too.
