Hi Guys,

Bit of advice to all you VAG owners out there...Thoughts on the below, what is it worth and its just over average miles for a 2003 "52" plate R.......

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250315185182&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123

What kinda of common faults, etc should I be asking the owner for/about?

:) Not a Leon man myself. But personally,i wouldn't buy a performance car like this with virtually no MOT.
Chances are,he's already had it mot'd before it's due and there are costly repairs awaiting.
It's only worth about £4500,and that's with a years MOT.
I'd look elsewhere.Just a hunch.

will the owner put a fresh mot on it or allow you to? whos serviced it? is the next service a major one and when is it due? does the car have any mods?

check for wet carpets, does it idle sweetly, smoky exhaust.

most of the issues are sensor related if they have any... temp senders , mafs etc.

strange hes put 2 new tyres on but not had it mot`ted

cambelt, according to my service book should be first inspection at 90,000km and then every 30,000km. actual replacement is 180,000km. (mk1 leon cupra petrol)

water pump can die at any point so many will have newer belts fitted before seat require it. some fit stronger pumps with a metal impellor;)

remember that the above is in km not miles.

looks like its been looked after, although im sure its been 'well used' as well.

If it was me id get rid of the 'privacy (pimp) glass and refurb the alloys in something other than black. - although some like that look.

It needs full service history.

And although advice above indicates cambelt change is due at 120,000 miles as is specificed in the service schedule it also says its a 5 year change so needs doing.
and the service advice appears to have been changed to 60,000 miles or 4 years...

Its advertised at Revo stage 3, id want to check that it is infact stage 3.

I'd be suprised if it was stage 3 as that's for uprated turbo's which i doubt it has at 280bhp.
Plus i'd check it has recaro's front and rear as well because it has the later teardrop mirrors which normally means it would only have recaro's in the front.

How would i be able to tell if the rears are recaro too?
