What is this hanging down under my Cupra 300?

Hi,

I happened to look out of the window and noticed some plastic hanging down that wasn't that low before. So I rushed out to have a look to see if someone had tried to nick something off it.

Doesn't "look" like they have but then again it just looks like a plastic cover to me that has come loose, can anyone else confirm here from the picture?

Looks like a rivit and plastic has come loose but car starts and drives fine.

Any ideas how or why it came off and if its easy to get back on?

The underride protection is hanging down. There should be a metal lock washer on the bolt.

Has it been in for service recently? If that's at the front of the car, that small piece covers a pressing in the floorpan that garages can use to raise the car on a 4 post lift. It's a bit awkward to refit; you need to slide it forward over a couple of tabs on the adjacent undertray and garages sometimes don't do it properly.
