What is this black box for, can it be easily changed if needed are there any implications from unclipping it then re-attaching later.

I ask because i have a strut brace to fit and i took the clips off and it hissed now im paranoid incase i fooked something.

I'm guessing its the vac box or N75 box?

Thanks

Yea it's the vacuum box. It's normal to have to remove it on diesels when fitting a strut brace. Just make sure you didn't unclip any wires/hoses when you put it back (unlikely).

So as long as i refitted all hoses and clips after fitting the strut brace then i will be fine. I removed the 2 silver retaining clips and started to seperate the box from the hoses when it hissed.

Just wasn't sure if this affected the turbo when it was disconnected and then reconnected at the hoses

Its for the turbo, makes sure the boost is not too high and that the waste-gate opens when the ECU tells it too,

Search for N75 valve its quite a lot to take in.

I'm just concerned that by disconnecting pipes i may have affected the turbo operating correctly.

It should be fine as the vacuum will get generated when the engine runs again. Diesel engines don't create alot of vacuum like petrol engines as they don't have a throttle. A seperate vaccum pump is used and the box is part of this system. Vacuum is used for things like the wastegate on the turbo and brake servos.

You dont need to disconnect anything. It moves out the way enough as it is to get to the bolts. Get to them one by one and nothing needs to be disconnected.
