What does it all mean lol

Hi all, well my engine light came on so got a mate to run a diagnostics on it and this is the results:

Well the car had about 15 faults stored but they could've been old ones. Removed them and re-ran the car for 2 generic codes to re-appear:

* P1200 - Turbo charger recirc malfunction - Mechanical
* P1296 - Malfunction in coolant system

Recirc had been removed and blanked as the car has had a R-DV at some point (Just gotta be carefull it doens't over boost now I guess). Checking out the individual blocks revealed the coolant system issue to be a faulty temp sender (01039) and the steering angle sensor seemed to be an unhappy bunny to for some reason... Meh!

So what does it all mean, the temp sensor i will replace but with regards to recirc im stumped?

Help me out guys please.

Starting to wish id gone jap again for my new car :

17704/P1296/004758 - Error in Mapped Cooling System
Possible Symptoms
Cold start issues
Possible Causes
Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62) faulty
Coolant Thermostat faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62)
Check Coolant Thermostat

Is your water temp gauge going up to 90deg, then dropping to 70deg, that would suggest thermostat? The G62 Engine temp sensor is quite an easy fix, about £20 from the stealers for a new green top sensor and a 2min job with no real tool requirements, just a flat head screwdriver

17608/P1200/004608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction
Possible Symptoms
Power Loss
Possible Solutions
Check Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249)

has the car had the N249 bypass done? If so I think you need a resistor mod to stop the EML coming on - there's many threads on the topic, just search N249 Bypass or something similar

You don't get that info with Jap cars do you lol :D

P.S. I can't see the pic you posted at my work... so not too sure what pipe has been blocked off.

Cheers, yeah my temp goes to 90 then back to min then anywhere in between constantly.

With regards to the 249 bypass mod, I had the engine cover off and have descovered the following. Could this be the 249 bypass mod and if so and I have read it correct should I remove the 2 screws in the pics that have been used to block things?

Should i remove these 2 screws and leave them open?

Thanks for the help mate :)

Well I'd try changing your thermostat first then - Although with the code being logged it could be a genuine engine temp sensor fault. Either way, depends how handy you are with a spanner they're both DIY jobs and fairly cheap to fix.

Can't see the pics at work... will have a look later at them if I remember.

Looks like your car's been modified by a real pro...

I'd start by undoing all that work to the boost measurement stuff

Anyone recommend anywhere in nottingham or surrounding area to take a look at it for me?

Here's a pic hope this is better. The pipe with the thin red arrow next to it goes to my boost gauge.

Defected!
That does'nt look right to me mate, there's no reason why the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) should be connected to the Diverter Valve (DV). This is how it should be piped with the N249 by-passed. Pictured in red are two seperate pipes, one goes from the black vacuum pipe in the middle of the picture(which goes underneath the inlet manifold) to the top of the DV and the other goes from the 'T' piece just above the date on the pic to your boost gauge. Also when the N249 is by-passed there should'nt be any screws blanking anything off.

Im gonna get that sorted then. Could that be the reason I get the p1200 fault code?

Well cts sender changed mine was the black one changed it for the green top one and now all is well with my temp gauge :)

Not had a go with the piping yet as all my local autofactors give me strange looks when i ask for vac pipe lol. Will have a go tomorrow.
