Hi all,

What colour should I get my 19" Cupra alloys powdercoated in? I'm getting them done on Monday.

I have narrowed down my choice to three colours:

1. Matte gunmetal grey
2. Matte black
3. Matte bronze

Those of you who are regulars here may have already seen my car with gloss black alloys.

Here's how the car looks right now:

I scraped one of my alloys so now's a good time to freshen them up.

So currently they are gloss black.

Personally, I like this colour:

And slightly less, this:

Let me know your thoughts. Cheers!

So, here they are in all their glory:

Car needs a clean so sorry for the state of it

After looking at the alloys in daylight I think I do prefer them to the black. They contrast well with the carbon roof.

Next step - side skirts.

mine are currently gloss black, but as the garage i bought it from has sprayed the standard 17's black and not done a great job they are flaking badly, showing silver underneath!

Out of interest, how much is the powder coating for x4 alloys?

cheers

So after looking at some examples of alloys from the place I'm getting them done, I've decided to go with 'matte dark anthracite'.

Here's the exact colour on a Focus ST:

Although mine will be matte. The dark anthracite will bring out the detail of the alloys better than the existing gloss black. I was tempted by bronze but in the end I'm going for something more 'normal'.

I'm paying £200 to have them powdercoated, which includes any repairs needed.

I'm dropping the car off tomorrow at 9 and I'm picking it up on the same day at 5.30.

That will look great mate. I think you need some contrast between the tyre and the alloy, but without resorting to the standard silver.

All done and dusted. Haven't taken any photos yet as it's dark. Will post some tomorrow. First impressions are that they've done an excellent job.

I think they look fantastic mate! Much nicer than the black as you get the contrast and shine from different angles. Good job!

I would ‘Ceramic Coat ‘ them whilst they are still fresh. Should protect them from chipping, scratching & repels water and brake dust .
Oh I’m such a Numpty !
I’ve just realised the date when you got them done lol.

Anthracite on black cars looks the nuts imo. Black on black is very same old nowadays and not very imaginative. I've got a midnight black fr and was originally looking to go bronze but looking to trade in soon so won't bother now, wheels are still mint too.
