Westec servicing

Guys,

I'm thinking having my car serviced (lcr 40k) by westec in newport as they are closer than my nearest stealer.

Has anyone had any experience with them? what are they like?

Well my personal experience is crap...

Paid for a dump valve on Dec 1st...2006 haha and still not delivered...'we'll sort that out for you right away sir' is their response...dunno what to do anymore

Even though they are only 5 mins from me I would`nt go there as I found them more expensive than the stealers on a Timing belt/water pump change . J.P Board in bridgend are very reasonable if u dont mind waiting a couple of hours while they do it rather than make 2 trips . £135 for a 60k service

just rang jp board, their service is a little cheaper than westec (although they quoted a price ex vat !?!?) so booked in there.

they quoted me £160 > £170 but it actually came to £135 . Loads of coffee shops & wetherspoons nearby

hmmm, that seems cheap! they quoted me 190 + VAT for 40k service. Thompson-Thompson quoted me 285 and Westec quoted 250 (though i think those prices were inclusive of vat)

I had extensive works carried out by Westec over a long period of time including Servicing, Dog bone mounts, short shifter, Full Bilstein Coilover suspension, new wheels and spacers, Anti roll bars, strut braces, DV relocation kit, Samco / Forge Pipework and DV.

So a little work.......

They also saved me a bundle identifying a n/s ABS sensor which wasn;t the sensor itself but broken wiring just behind the sensor......re-wiried the plug on the back of the sensor and cured the problem......identified the source of an annoying humming sound in the car (fooked rear damper) etc

What did I think of them.......good advice and professional approach, cheaper and better service than a dealer.

Westec were better on customer Service in years gone by when Bob was on the tools only because this free'd up Grant to address calls / admin / website......that said Jock is an Ex Audi Master Tech and very knowledgable and approachable.

They lost a lot of friends by using the US performance parts supplier EIP who let them down very badly on shipments and made them look silly.

Westec are not lily white but I would use them again
