Weird Starting problem

Here's a strange one for you.

Last night it was my turn to collect a couple of friends and drive to a friends house for a couple of pre pub drinkies. I drove the 3 miles to the first pickup, parked the car locked it and did what I had to do. The car was parked for 10-15 minutes and the car performed flawlessly.

Before I tried to start the car the radio twice turned it's self off then back on again and then the clock and trip display reset. When I tried to start the car it failed to even turn over almost like the battery was flat but I know this is not the case. After trying a couple more times I thought F%&k it and left it at on my friends drive.

This afternoon I went back to my car popped the bonnet, checked the battery connections and had a look for anything untoward but everything looked ok. Jumped into the car and the car started first time :wtf:

A couple of Observations
The was used for most of Saturday with a couple of short journeys with out any problems.
It rained VERY VERY hard for most of Saturday - Possible water ingress somewhere?
The car was serviced last week, but as I normally do was checked over when I got it home.

What could have caused this problem, and more importantly where do I start looking....

Try turning the lights on where you can see their reflection and starting the car. if they go out = flat batteries. Also this can be caused by poor earth connection to the bodywork from the battery. Look for any signs of rust, water can cause rust to be forced into the gap between the wire and the bodywork causing a poor/no connection. Try turning off the engine and turning on the side lights, then get under the bonnent and wiggle the earth connection from the battery, watch the lights closely if they go out...voila your problem found.
hope this helps
