Weird noise when wheelspin occurs

My car likes to lose traction when it's wet through 1st and second gear, I never hear tyre squeel so not sure if the wheels actually spin but I get a weird thumping sound asthough the suspension or wheel is about to come through the bonnet, or the engine through the dashboard, I'm pretty sure my 100pd tdi sport does not have traction control so what else could it be??

I did search but found nothing other than it suggests it's like traction control.

The noise is probably from movement in the engine bay when the wheels are constantly fighting for traction, obviously when they spin quickly and then all of a sudden they grab on the surface and it puts loads of stress on engine mountings and the like.

my 100hp 1.4 gets this as well, infact it happened to me today when trying to pull out a roundabout in the dry.

I get a similar thing in my motor if I'm a bit too heavy handed setting off, to be honest the TCS in my car seems to be very easily overwhelmed and doesn't do a great job of stopping the wheels from spinning. Don't be surprised to hear the odd knock or thud when the you go from no traction to then having the tyres dig in, things will move about a fair bit when this happens. Might be worth double checking engine mounts to make sure they are all ok though just for peace of mind, I broke one on my old car when I was a bit too eager to get away from a junction  lol

I had a PD100 Sportrider.
After being remapped I thought I'd play with some chav in a Corsa off the lights after he gave me crap for having a diesel.

I planted it and the wheels lit up,
When they finally gripped there was an almighty thud.
What your heaving is essentially all the force travelling through your car.
Dont do it or you'll ruin your clutch/gearbox/fly wheel and more.

Also you'll get wheel hop which is also damaging!
