hi guys, 2002 tdi leon, just got today,

when driving home i noticed bit hesitant going up through the gears almost holding back then letting go (all very quickly) then driving ok, then doing same again? any ideas??seems to have enough lift in it , perhaps a bit slower than i thought it should be, its a 110bhp with 85k, full dealer history to 55k then mot confirms roughly about 8k per year since 06, with a 6-12month period of no mot suggesting period of rest in between. believe the sellers story that he got pissed off with locks and leaks and parked up and used other car.

is it maybe just because the car hasnt been used for a while?

also fuel flap doesnt work, figured out by pulling carpets in boot that i can pull a rod back, to open, but how do i know if its the switch or solenoid?

locks: same old same old, ive had a toledo and read loads of threads, heres a new one:

the drivers door key will only lock or unlock that door, it will lock or unlock the boot only, but neither will operate central locking. it works from inside perfectly on the door panel, and the remote will only unlock the car?

also: this hole any ideas to right of engine bay when you look in, down side of engine ive looked on my other toledo seems to be a plastic/rubber bung supposed to go in that hole? will it not being there cause the problem or could someone have removed it on purpose?

other thing is occasionally the oil light will flicker? 0000

Petrol flap - I take it that you know that the switch will only operate with the engine off and before you open/close the door (or something like that - have a look in your manual). Test the solenoid by applying a direct voltage to it and see if it works.

The drivers lock should trigger the others, but as the door panel button works then at least you know the solenoids are OK. I think there is a microswitch in the door lock on the drivers side that should trigger the locking on all the other doors. I wonder if that has got wet (as you say the car has had trouble with leaks) or if the microswitch is not functioning. The boot lock will not trigger the other locks on the central locking so that is working as designed. The remote might need pairing back to that car again - have a search through the forums as its pretty easy to do and worth doing to rule it out.

The hole is an inspection hole for the clutch. Its better covered, but not the end of the world if not. The bung from mine went missing at somepoint a long time ago and I've not replaced it yet. I will when I remember!!

Flickering oil light is a concern. Could be a poor connection I suppose, but I'd want to be certain.

as for the engine problems......

put vag com onto it, heres what came up...........would these have anything to do with above symptoms?

Is the battery good ? I'd ensure its fully charged, clear the DTC's for central conv and the airbags. See if the low voltage issues come back or not.

For the others a quick google turned up:-

17656 - Start of Injection Timing Regulation: Control Deviation

The cluster check is linked to the oil light so you can kill two birds with one stone. The oil sensor looks like its faulty to me - http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4446498

ABS could be a red herring. Look at the 2nd half of the page in this link :- http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01314

Aircon looks like its got issues. Put the fault code number in place of the xxxxx in this URL :- http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/xxxxx
eg: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00792

I changed a pressure switch on mine - pain to get at, but possible and can be done without leaking any gas away as it is attached to a valve. Its on the aircon pipes against the bulkhead in the engine bay. Takes a few mins.

thanks a million buddy, didnt realise i could just stick fault code into ross tech like that.

but i know from dealing wit hvagcom before its user experience and prior knowledge that solves the problem 90%of the time, cheers buddy, ill have a rattle at a lot of this stuff tomorro.

If it were me, I'd pair the key to the car again (do not erase it from the ECU using vag-com, there is a non-vagcom procedure for making the remote control "known" to the car). If you erase keys you will need the SKC code from a dealership (can take a day or two) to get it back into the recognised list for the immobiliser so please be careful with that info!! The non-vagcom procedure is risk free.

Next I would clear all DTC's and see if they come back.
