is it true that using WD-40 on the spark-plugs cables,distributor,ECU, and other electris stuff, will improve the performance of the engine , i never used it to clean my engine anyway ,
any clue?

ive used it on my old astra when starting in the cold and wet. it helps eliminate water/damp. only used it when i couldnt start the car tho... not as a regular thing.

WD40 will drive out any moisture present. At best it's a short term fix, since the oil will evaporate over a few weeks.

The real answer is that you car is about due a new set of ignition cables - for which you'll probably find that your dealer is the cheapest place to get good leads. VAG use the name Quantum for their spares and they should cost £30 or so. 'Performance' leads are a waste of money (since they don't actually improve performance).

A new distributor cap and rotor arm will be £15 or so, and are worth doing if they haven't been replaced.

WD-40 was designed as a water dispersant.

Water D ispersant40 (the formula they arrived at was their 40th attempt. :)

The fact it's a good lubricant / cleaner is a happy coincidence.
