Water pump stays on permanent

On my 2001 Ibiza Cupra the water pump stays on FOREVER! I know it's meant to stay on for 5 or 10 mins after ignition turned off but mine stays on permanent. Replaced sensor but it was not that! Was suggested that the ECU might need remapping but this sounds drastic - anyone had a similar problem. (as temporary solution - I have a 10 amp fuse fitted in-line with sensor so can at least remove fuse to turn off to prevent battery run-down).

There must be a time delay relay somewhere? On the leon it runs for 10 mins even if you flick the ignition on/off.
on the fuse box maybe?

Cheers guys. Long way to nearest VAG dealer! Need day off work - or perhaps the wife ....dunno?!!!
Not sure about a timer - i thought switch -off occured when sensor sensed a preset water temp. ?
Any more ideas esp. the thought about ECU controlling this?
