Warranty Period?

Any idea what the warranty period is?

I bought my LCR on 01/04/04 and it has done 36k miles. I was under the impression that the warranty was 3 years or 60k miles (which ever was earliest).

My car is booked in to have a cooling system leak, noisey suspension, noisey power steering and 3 water damaged 'R' badges sorted. The garage is implying that the car is out of warranty, which they say is 3 years or 30k miles (which ever is earlier). Obviously I don't want to have to pay for anything if it is still covered by the warranty.

Make sure you get it sorted before they start any work and if they refuse to do it under warranty take it elsewhere.
Shouldn't matter to the garage as they get the money back from Seat.

Not sure about that but my car is June 03 and I got some work done in May under warranty and at a different dealer from where the car was bought from.

on my ibiza FR 20vt i was told 3 and 60k and i got an extended further 2 years dealer warranty for nowt

I'll see what they say before they start the work then.

The dealer that I bought the car from closed 2 months after I took delivery (very useful!) so no chance on any dealer extension.

The warrantee is like this.

2yrs Std European (law) Warrantee backed by SEAT - valid for unlimited mileage.

a further 1yr Warrantee 'dealer' warrantee, but valid at any SEAT dealer

things to consider:

Wear & tear items (such as shocks) may not be covered as they're so old, same as coolant leak if the pipes have perrished

The dealer will not do any work without authority from SEAT UK (who will pay them back)

Your dealer is just a bit thick (as are so many)

I spoke to SEAT UK this morning and they took my reg number and said that warranty was definitely 3 years or 60k miles (which ever is earlier).

I will have to give the dealership a bit of grief and get them to speak to SEAT UK if they don't agree to do work under warranty...

I'd take it to another dealer. If they don't want the work or are trying to stitch you up then they're not worth bothering with.

I have not used this dealership in Bury St. Edmunds before, and so far it doesn't look too good.

I would take it another dealership but Colchester are very small and don't like dealing with anything out of the ordinary and aren't particularly helpful and Cambridge are very good but also very expensive and an hour away. I don't know of any other dealers in the area, I thought I might as well give them all a go.

If anyone has any dealership recomendation around Suffolk, let me know asap, car is going in tonight...

All is okay, well sort of!

Dealership in Bury St. Edmunds seem very good.

All of the problems are covered by warranty, but they need to order a big list of parts in so want my car back for 2 days at a later date... parts include coolant system pipe work, supension bushes, suspension mounts, sill clips... not sure of whole list but will be interesting to see.

I feel a bit worried driving round in a car requiring lots of parts, but I guess they wouldn't let me have the car back if it wasn't okay. It inspires real confidence in the recent service that was done by a different dealership!!!
