I've recently had an intermittent warning sign pop up on the cruise control. See below:

Any thoughts what this could be?

I get that pop up quite often. 1.2tsi se. I didn't even get any error codes when I plugged in my obd11 either... So at present it just gets reset when car gets restarted.

I thought it may be linked to my slow puncture I have.. I get a tyre pressure warning every 4 to 5 weeks. Drops 5psi.

Does the cruise control work despite that warning?
No... It cuts out....

And unlike my Toyota when it did the same, you have to reset it by turning ignition off and on again... Toyota you could just switch the cruise control off and on again and keep using it.

My 15 reg Cupra 280 DSG started doing this about six months ago (I've had it 14 months). I've asked the dealers to look at it a couple of times but, in typical fashion, the error doesn't occur when it's with them and it seems that it doesn't leave a log of any error code - they claim not to be able to do anything without this information.

Through experimentation, I've worked out that the error only occurs when I use more than 2,500 rpm before the oil reaches 50 deg. C (not sure what happens in the engine at this point, possibly some change in the variable valve timing map?). I accept that I may be imagining it, but I've convinced myself that the low-end throttle response is not as sharp when the warning light is illuminated. This suggests that it may be the camshaft position sensor or something like that.

Intermittent electrical faults are a deil to trace and I'm loathe to just start changing random sensors so I've learnt to just drive around it by keeping below 2,500 rpm until the oil reaches 50 deg. C. I've never had the warning light appear once the oil has warmed up a bit but, as others have said, you have to restart the engine to clear the error.

Thanks for the info. Next motorway run I will make sure my oil is at 90C before using the cruise control. See if it still happens.....

The cruise control uses several inputs from other systems to disengage CC, it might be as simple as an intermittent fault in one of those.

-Foot brake/brake light switch. Check your brake lights operate (brake pedal, not parking brake) when the fault is active, if not then there's your problem.
-There's also a sensor on the clutch pedal which disengages CC (temporarily) when you declutch. (Manual cars, not sure how it works in DSG) Is the selected gear showing in the top right of the dash info screen? That might be a clue too?

Mines now booked in for a new coolant bypass valve (under warranty). So could be related?
I'll report back once it's been in with the dealers.

Could it be related to the speed warning setting? cruise set higher than what the warning speed is?
I haven't got my speed warning set. I'm thinking it's related to the cooling issues and EML they throw up.
