West Yorks.
Used them for the first time yesterday.....what a disaster...having previously tried them on the car on the drive when I first got them, yesterday was my first chance to put them to good use as I had 2 mattresses to take to the local tip 1 mile away.
So, I fitted the roof bars, hoyed the mattresses on with a bit of help from SWMBO, strapped them down and set off....got on to the dual carriageway and up to 30 mph.... and the whole job lot came sliding down the back window and landed in the road behind me :-o:-o.
The car behind me had to brake and swerve to avoid them, so I stopped, dragged everything off the road, and then spent half an hour re-assembling, refitting and securing it all back on the roof, and then crawled at 20 mph down to the tip !!!!!
Lucky there was no plod about, as I would now have 3 points on my licence for "insecure load" !!!
The problem is with the fittings, when I tighten them they just seem to want to slide up on to the roof (there is no hole in the front bracket to bolt them in) ....I suppose that's what you get with going for the cheap option rather than the genuine Seat ones, but even so I will be contacting the manufacturers as I believe they are not "fit for purpose"....will let you know how I get on !!
