Hi there, i am just starting to mod my lcr and want to start with a dump valve and air induction kit. I have no idea about modding or any of the joys that go with it (in other words i am a dummy with cars) :D

Can any one advice a good one to get and where to get it from?

Cheers guys!

the search button will become your friend. the DV question has been asked many many times before. basically they don't tend to work as the 1.8T needs a re-circulating dump valve, the forge 007P works well but there is also the split-R from forge that also works. it is a 50/50 jobby that dumps back into the intake and into the atmosphere so you get the whoosh noise. with filters the choice is massive, there are filters from ramair, dynatwist, BMC and then there are the obvious K&N and pipercross filters. if you do decide on a induction kit it is best to have an enclosed filter with a decent cold air feed so you don't suck hot air into the engine. there are replacement panel filters too which are a cheaper option, green filters are rated highly on here.
if you eventually decide to get your LCR remapped (you will) then an uprated DV is a must as the standard plastic bosch valve tends to split under higher boost.

here is my LCR with the BMC carbon filter.

Nice engine bay m8 :)

I've recently polished my charge pipe and will be doing the same to the top and front bit of the inlet manifold (really don't want to take it off the car you see lol).

I reckon the blue silicon pipes you've got really finish it off...I'm after exactly the same, however it doesn't help when i don't know what they're called

So what are the 3 blue pipes you have in that pic above called? From left to right?

Sorry for being lame lol

the two at the front are the top intercooler hoses

and the one at the back is the turbo intake pipe

both available from forge...................... with the 10% SCN discount ;)

i've got a different charge pipe on mine now, it has been shot-blasted and the silenced part has been sleeved too. i now get a bit more noise when the turbo is spooling and it seems a bit more responsive too. :)

karlosR- thanks m8! damn they're expensive!

Empi5- that's what one of my m8s said...ah well, we shall see how it goes lol. Did you do all of your manifold? Or just the top and front flat parts?

If your after more noise then get the open fillter if you want more power then get an enclosed induction kit or for a lot less money high flow panel and smooth the o/e airbox
open filter £60-£100
induction kit £200 up
high flow filter £35

The FORGE split-r is very good, had my one for about 5 months just make sure you get it set up and fitted properly as they rattle and cause problems

Them polished engines look well nice might have to have a go in the sumer

There was a guy on here who i think said he got 7bhp from smooth airbox and high flow panel i would be suprised if you would get any more than 10 bhp from an inclosed induction kit open filter i would expect to be about 5 bhp depending wether due to hot air in the engine bay
Personaly if you want more noise i'd do the airbox and put the saved £150 towards an exhaust system

Smooth air box is just putting a new filter in there right? Will it still sound ok with the split R d/v?
