I've never heard of those specs.

Isn't 0W30 too thin at 100c+ temps in regards to the 503.01 oils?

This is difficult to explain but, if for example your oil temp does not exceed 120degC at any time then a good "shear stable" sae 40 is perfectly capable of giving protection.

"Shear stability" is important here because if the oil shears it thins and that's not good!

However, if you are seeing temperatures in excess of 120degC due to mods and track use etc then there is a strong argument to using an sae 50 as it will have more viscosity at these excessive temperatures.

I personally think that 0w-30 is too thin for a tuned car. the last thing you want when your turbo is hot is a poor oil supply.

I Spoke to Opie oils and they said that 0w-30 (vw503) oil is ok for the TT and S3 but for a remapped car 5w-40 or 10w-40 would be better.

10w-40 was also recommended by Awesome GTi who did the work on my car

Ive just bought Motul 300V Chrono 10w-40 for my next service from opie oils, a bit pricey but worth it!! :D

Probably not but IMHO its best to use full on any car if you can. It reduces engine wear, inrease performance, fuel economy, better protection from cold etc
