Hi everyone,

I am new to the Seat world and need some help,

I currently have a Seat Ibiza Mk3 1.4 and would like to put a VR6 engine into my car.

I chose to do a VR6 conversion as I want something different to a 1.8T, and I also love the sound the VR6 makes.

Does anyone know how to do this, has it ever been done and was it successful?

Does anyone know a company that would do this for a decent amount of money, not something silly like £2000.http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/images/smilies/surprise.gif
:-o

I would much appreciate some feedback an I am now stuck.

Thanks

save yourself the hassle and money........ buy a cupra ;) its all abouts the k03's, k04's.......and the ihi's! [B)]

VR6 conversions are out-dated now, everyone goes for the turbo conversions imo.

good luck with whatever you choose to do mate.

Yeah i see what you mea, but 1.8T engines are not special anymore, I want to do something that is different and unique.

£2000 would be about the cost of all the bits for you to do it...... so if you can get someone to fit it for considerably less you'll be doing well

sorry i think your looking for alot more than 2000 for the conversion if you want any decent job, as said the parts are going to cost alot let alone fabrication and setting up.

If you've been quoted £2k fitted snap the guy's hands off... You could source a crash damages VR for around £1k, use the engine, gearbox, loom, etc and sell off the other bits.

So say the engine now owe's you £800 you've got to get it fitted, that's where it'll cost you. Now if you can do it yourself, fine it's a cheap conversion but if you need chassis legs cutting and welding and aren't going to do a DIY install your talking large amounts.

However providing you have the mechanical knowledge and can put it into practice you could do it yourself, but expect problems along the way. Also remember that if you use the VR drive shafts you'll need some 5 stud wheels.

You'll also need a decent suspension kit (not just Cupra standard shite), uprated brakes (VR 288mm) and rear discs (again VR parts, or 16V Mk2 Cupra).

I'd be setting aside at least £2k for a DIY conversion, your best off buying a rear ended crashed car, this is what we did when fitting a VR into a friends Mk3 Cabrio however that was an easy swap over.

a big ole heavy under powered lump in he front! my brother had a golf vr6 and i wasnt even nearly impressed. 1.8t all the way baby!!! buy a cupra. if you want a quick car best bet is to start off with a quick car in the first place sounds like you ent got much of a budget as well.. 1.4 brakes ect wont cope so your looking at another 500/700 for wheels so u can fit brembos then however much brembos are looking at about 1000 there!! all this is imo its all up to you tho.

same here my mates vr6 mk3 that was rr at 202bhp didn't feel that fast at all due to the weight, as the ibiza is a small light car anyway why defeat the object by sticking abig lumo under the front end.

If you want something different try the 2.0 TFSI engine... its something I looked into buy when you look twice at the cost and work you'll run a mile, especially if you thought £2k was an expensive conversion.

If you do go for a VR conversion, you'll need VR coilovers which are adjustable on the front of the car, plus the brakes and tyres before the lump even goes in.
