Hi all,

For some reason, my volume control on my stereo is shafted. When I turn it up, it jumps down, very often to 0 and I've have to start again. It's getting really frustrating now, as it's sooo difficult to turn up. :censored:

Any idea what it could be? To me it sounds like a dodgy connection, but anyone any idea how to fix it?

Thanks in advance :)

is it really failing though

they are quite temperamental and seem to correct themselves if for example you were to accidentally turn it up too loud. you have to be gentle

It's been like it for about 6 months now. Was fine, but now, being rough or gentle (oohh errr) makes no difference, it's determined to stay at or around 0!

I was wondering if it's the connections?

on mine to turn the volume up i have to press the plastic just above the volume control then turn it up, then sometimes it just goes down to 0, really annoying..i think mine is a connection problem but just havnt got round to looking at it yet

Mine is the same problems as JimYu ... seems to love being set to zero. Even delicate turning of the volume control knob with fingers placed on each side can be useless - especially if you go over a bump at the same time ;-(

So, if it needs cleaning how do we do it folks?
Is it related to the problem with the cd changer not being recognised at random (although someone did say that it might be an earthing problem)?

Is the headunit knackered or repairable then?

mine does the same... i find turning the volume control in the anti clockwise direction (quieter) about 4-5 full turns, it then works fine for the rest of that day

Same problem !

I thought it was because of the dust, if you give it a strong blow all around the volume control it seems to work perfect for a while might just need a good scrub !

Although I would like a perminant alternative without replacing it with a head unit!
