Virgin Cupra 1.8t

I have had my 2005 Ibiza CUPRA 1.8T for over a week now, and still not sure what tuning mods I should make. She only has 7000k on the clock and I have just had the 20,000k service done.
I would be interested to hear what others would do in my situation. I dont want the fastest ever Cupra, just a noticable increase, to shock a few Type R's.
Reliability is a must, and I dont want to go bankrupt.. :ban:

I guess most will say re-map, but who with and what type???
I live in Shropshire so dont mind traveling for a few hours.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Darren.

Depends on your cash flow really. If you have a small budget ie +/- £500 say, most people will sugest a remap as its the best bang for your buck. If you have a bit more to play with, you could look at things like air filter, d/v, brakes etc...

As for which remap company, it s a bit like asking 'whats the best football team in the world?', everyone's going to have a diiferent opinion. If you want a 'try before you buy' you could look at Revo or APR (there should be a dealer near you, check their websites). There are loads more companies that offer remaps like Bells and custom code who have links to this forum. Most offer a 14 day satisfaction period i think  So if you're happy you can get your money back.

The various companies offer different styles of map that drive differently so its down to you to decide which one to go for.

remap will get you to 210-225bhp would need a new (forge007) recirulating valve to put up with the power as the standard boosh 1 is poo that will keep you happy for now trust me!

ive got a viper induction kit for sale if you want that and a sports cat/downpipe is a great mod too paired with the cat back!

I went to Jabbasport with 9500 miles on the clock of my '04 Cupra. Custom remap definitely worth it. Still lovely and drivable, very smooth progressive power and a real kick in the back when you absolutely want it.

I was amazed at the difference. It still returns reasonable mpg too.

why have you had a 20k service done on a car with less than 10k on the clock???

I had mine remapped at 5000k last october, its the best £460 I ever spent (REVO) and is now the fastest car I have owned, you need a light foot though once its remapped as getting the power down is poor. Maybe I should have had it custom coded so the all the torque comes in later.

Trust me get a remap and you will be beating type rs, my mate has an integra type r and that is quicker than the civic and mine pulls quite a bit of distance on that. still thats in a straight line as we all know the integra is the best handling fwd car out there.

the funny thing is if you know how to drive it you dont wheelspin really! and still getting most the power down too! LSdiff that im getting in the next month or so will improve this as well i was very suprised how well i could get the power down actually! and it still eats most cars on the road

maybe Im a poo driver then, I guess it doesn't help that I had a scooby where you can just plant it and it goes. never got any wheelspin in that even in the snow.

im guessing it might be his old one...put some pics up of the car and we can all find out whos it is?!?!

im thinking about a Revo remap for my mk4 cupra (petrol), aswell as a green panel filter, a new dump valve...most prob the split-r forge dv, forge TIP, the throttle body to intercooler hose (if it is ever made) and a miltek exhaust system, no idea what it will be running, but im sure it will be more than enough for me...wud love to go the IHI route after seeing rash's cupra but i dont physically haev the funds for it!

downpipe and exhaust make a huge difference, well worth going for. Check dump valve before switching that REVO on,

Standard dump valve should be working as when Bill replaced it with the Forge valve he commented that it was working as it should & I only put it back on the day before the car went, would still reccomend getting a forge valve though.

Hope you enjoy the car as much as I did. If you dont mind could you PM me the price you paid for it as the asking price was getting near what they gave me for it :)
