I've got some nice red vinyl and want to wrap the base trim of the gearstick.

Any guides on how to get it off? Had a quick search couldn't find anything.

It's the silver bit shown in this pic (not my car)

Not sure if they all remove the same, but with mine there are two clips that you need to squeeze in to remove that trim, you cant see the clips, but you should be able to feel them through leather gaitor. They are located about 1/2 an inch forwards from the back of the trim squeeze them into the middle and it should just lift up?
Hope that helps and I haven't just confused the hell out of you.

I wrapped mine black, when you get the whole gaitor unit off, look at the bottom of it, and the leather comes away from the actual plastic surround. I think I used 2 flat blade screwdrivers, it isn't hard to work out though. Good luck on the corners lol.

Ok all done, came easy enough but the trim took a little longer to convince.

Initally wrapped it red. Crap job and it looked crap so I took my time and redid it in black. Very pleased with it. Also wrapped my door pillars. I think i'll redo them as I cut one too short then cut the other to match. Can't tell unless you've got your face up to it.
