One of the most common problems on a 130 Ibiza is the upper intercooler pipe vibrating against the black plastic fuel filter housing (behind the driver's side headlight). My money is on that !

It might look unlikely, but you'd be surprised how far the engine & hoses move under load.

Fix is to either stick a bit of foam on to stop the rattle noise, or somehow tiewrap the pipe back so it can't touch.

well i suppose that would make sense, thats the hose i've just changed and it was a slight different shape to the old one. i'll give that a shot after i got soaking wet adter takin the scuttle panel off the bottom in the pouring rain last night!!

I've had a similar problem from about 6 months now. There is a fairly loud and annoying vibration just behind my steering column. It's very intermittent and happens on rough surfaces. Been to the dealers a few times with it and they can't find anything wrong!

Funny that, my Cordoba 130TDI decided to blow out the Bottom cooler pipe this morning.......at 1.30AM on the M60 in Manchester to be precise:cry:

Rac attended and fortunately the lugs werent damaged and all went back ok, but its possible that after a few years the O ring seal, at that point tends to swell with age and not do the job coupled with the retaining clip needing replacement. Total cost of parts is a few quid but if you are Diyers you might want to have a look at this possible source of trouble......

You certainly cant rely on VW reliability any more these days.....
